8 Days Lemosho Route –The Most Scenic Path to Uhuru Peak
Experience the beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro through its most scenic and successful route, offering excellent acclimatization and breathtaking landscapes.
DAY 00: ARRIVAL AT KILIMANJARO AIRPORT
You will be met by our representative/driver-guide after a short briefing and then transferred to the Hotel for dinner, and overnight stay at the Lodge/Hotel in Arusha.
DAY 01: ARUSHA – LEMOSHO-FOREST CAMP-MTI MKUBWA – 4/5 HOURS OF HIKING
Departure for Kilimanjaro’s west side. Arrival at the small village of Boma N’Gombe, then we head west on Kilimanjaro. Arrival in Londorosi for formalities. Meeting with your porter team, then departure for the trek, via Lemosho. Trek through a relatively dry forest (especially compared to the humid southern slopes of the Machame and Umbwe routes. Setting up camp at Mti Mkubwa for the night. You will be at 2900m.
DAY 02: MTI MKUBWA CAMP-SHIRA 1 CAMP. 7/8 HOURS OF HIKING
Day exploring the Shira Plateau; We cross the plateau, and depending on the group’s fitness level, we’ll hike to the Needles and the Cathedral. We gain very little altitude during this day, which will greatly contribute to good acclimatization. Overnight at Shira 1 Camp, at an altitude of 3100m.
DAY 03: SHIRA 1 CAMP – SHIRA 2 CAMP 3/4 HOUR WALK
After breakfast, we depart for Shira 2 Camp. Lunch will be a picnic. We’ll cross the Shira Plateau, have dinner, and spend the night at Shira 2 Camp. At an altitude of 3800m, we’ll spend the night.
DAY 04: SHIRA 2 – LAVA TOWER 4600M – BARANCO CAMP 6/7 HRS HIKING
After breakfast, depart and head towards LAVA TOWER for acclimatization which is 4600M. Lunch will be a picnic; enjoy the magnificent view before you, where you will see Kilimanjaro Glacier. Afterwards, begin the descent to BARANCO camp for dinner and overnight stay. You will be at 3800M.
DAY 05: BARANCO – KARANGA CAMP 3 HRS HIKING
Today is another half-day ascent. Cross the BARANCO wall and depart for Karanga camp for lunch. Arrive and have lunch at the camp. Overnight at Karanga camp. 4200M.
DAYS 06 & 07: KARANGA – BARAFU CAMP 3 HRS HIKING. 4600M.
Breakfast at the camp, then head towards Barafu Camp for the night and prepare for your departure. Around midnight, depart and begin the trek to the roof of Africa. The trek takes up to 6 hours. Reach the summit, take your photos, and enjoy the view (it will be very cold). Finish and begin the descent back to Barafu Camp for breakfast, a short nap, and then continue the descent to Mweka Camp for the night. 3100m.
DAY 08: MWEKA HUT – MWEKA GATE- ARUSHA 3 HOURS FOR RELAXATION
Direct descent to the park gates. 3 to 4 hours of downhill walking. Return to Mweka Gate where you will receive a certificate. Lunch at the park exit. Transfer to Arusha and certificate presentation. Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel/Lodge.
DAY 09: DEPARTURE
On this day you will wind up your day and prepare yourself for transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
